Once you’ve identified both the internal and external stakeholders, use the Power/Influence grid to help you determine the degree to which you should seek to engage your stakeholders in your initiative. To map your stakeholders, consider the level of power and influence each has over your initiative.
- Create an engagement plan for each stakeholder:
Now that you’ve determined to what extent each stakeholder should be engaged, consider how their individual motivations might influence the way they perceive your initiative. Are they more likely to support or oppose your initiative? Based on the factors you’ve considered, what should your engagement strategy be for each of these stakeholders? Use the table to help you plan. An example has been provided.
