When to use
You have several ideas that you want to prioritise and select between.
Why you should
To help you select between ideas in terms of which make the most impact and how difficult they are to implement.
What you get
An impact/effort mapping of your ideas that can be a great input to the discussion of selecting the best ideas.
Steps to take
Use the template in link below to map the different ideas you have.
Consider the gains for the user and the service provider. Gains can be better quality, less time spent and lower cost.
Consider if the implementation is easy or difficult to achieve.
Further reading
Note that this matrix only looks at impact and effort. Reflect on what kind of impact you are considering, it can be the impact of a certain user need (people), the revenue (profit), the environment (planet) etc. If you have several important areas you want to impact, it can be useful to do the exercise several times with different impact targets.
It is also important to use this an input into the prioritisation process together with other considerations, and not as the sole answer.
